A few questions about EC2 SES and Sendy

  • I have a node.js server running on EC2
  • I use SES to send emails using nodemailer package in node.js
  • I came across this thing called Sendy which claims to add people to list, remove people from list and create campaigns
  • On further research it says you ll need to SELF HOST it
  • Is SES a server? or does it use EC2 to send emails?
  • If SES is a server, why doesnt Sendy use SES to send emails, why does it need to be hosted
  • Sendy seems to be PHP code, setting it up on EC2 would be a real pain as I am not familiar with PHP setup
  • Are there alternatives to Sendy that can work directly with EC2 and Node.js
  • I have worked with providers like mailchimp aweber sendgrid and have no interest in them, something that uses SES but can manage user lists would be perfect
  • Thank you for the suggestions in advance
