More than 20 years in the business, and I am still having to explain to people that spamming is not email marketing. What do I mean?
If you are sending blind emails out to sell anything, inviting anyone to your web site, youtube channel, or presentation, you are spamming.
If you are using a purchased email list to send out offers, you are spamming.
And … spamming is not email marketing.
Email marketing is actually using email to reach out to people who have asked for your information. They asked by filing out a capture form on your web site, or by specifically giving you permission to email them your stuff. Here, at TrafficWave.net, we go one step further with our double opt-in confirmation process to make sure that our users are actually email marketing and not spamming.
Spamming is, without exception, a deplorably practice. Email marketing, on the other hand, actually takes an ethical and legal approach to building rapport and showing prospects how your service or products can help them solve a problem.
Once you recognize the difference, you begin to understand that spamming is not email marketing. The two have nothing in common beyond the fact that email can be used to accomplish both.
Why do I get good email marketing results? (By “good email marketing results” I do mean actual sales).
Everybody on my list specifically asked me to send them information. They even took a second to confirm that they requested that I email them.
When I send my emails to these folks, the email content is relevant to the information they requested and is focused on showing them how I can help them solve a problem.
On a daily basis, I get replies from folks actually THANKING me for the information, asking a question or two, and then signing up for our service.
Say it with me: Spamming Is Not Email Marketing
