Our email domain was highjacked to send spam - now our regular emails are sent to people's spam folder

A few months ago, one of our email address for our small business was used to send thousands of spam emails to random people over a span of 48 hours.

We only knew this was happening because the inbox for that email will getting filled with "Message could not be delivered" every few seconds. We paused that address from sending & receiving for a week and the issue stopped. A month later another email address of ours, (this specific email is used for marketing to our email list) had the same thing happen. We paused both addresses and resumed them after a week and the spammer appeared to have stopped using our emails.

I fear this has hurt our domain/IP reputation because as of recently, all emails that we now send to new & regular contacts are getting filed into their spam folder. We know this because we communicate with the recipients over phone and they always tell us they haven't received our email, only to find it in the spam folder once we ask them to check there. This ranges from Gmail inboxes to the inboxes from other domain name companies.

Is there any way to get on "good terms" again with the email providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, icloud again? Is there anything we can submit to them that proves that the spam emails sent months ago wasn't by us?

This has severely crippled our business and made communication with clients & collaborators extremely frustrating as our projects are very time sensitive. I'm not well versed in how email reputation works. I just know we follow regular email rules & best practices to the best of our knowledge. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
