Question about email blasts (CANADA)

Hi guys,

So I'm a pretty fresh from University student who majored in Marketing. I did pretty well in school, but my first job, which is for a small company, is posing some confusion.

So we purchased an email list for our current BIG push to market a new product line. We've done small email blasts in the past but I have some questions about using the new email list. My boss isn't very... savvy.. in this stuff i suppose i'd say, and as I said, this is my first job so I'm kind of just doing.

I think I meet the Spam requirements but I'm unsure how to check that, and I'm also looking for guidance on the most effective way to use this email list.
