Delivery to Inbox?

Hi guys, I had a quick question about delivery to inbox time. We are currently using sendgrid for our transactional email and whenever we send out new email, there is often times a significant delay AFTER it gets marked "delivered" and when it actually appears in the inbox. Also, oddly, when it does appear in the inbox, it says "email received X minutes ago", where X minutes ago was actually the time it got marked delivered, even though it just appeared in the inbox a few seconds ago. Does anyone know why this happens? Our best guess is that spam detection is causing some delay after the email is delivered, but before it is shown to the user. These emails contain an external links, but other than that, just plaintext.

I used nodemailer with a gmail account and mailgun with the same problem. Any advice?
