My partner and I run an energy brokerage firm and we recently were handed a list of customers / warm leads from a family friend that retired from the business. These were individuals that used his services in the past (3-5 years ago). The list has the company name, address, contact name, email, and phone. About 2,000 contacts in total. We are totally unsure if this list is a goldmine of new business, totally useless, or somewhere in between.
What is the best way to approach this via email?
I have considered:
-Individually emailing each person. I could include their name, along with some type of personalization related to the property they own (e.g. "...in regards to your bed and breakfast in Georgia"). The only issue with this method is the amount of time it will take. However, I am willing to put in the time if we think this method will significantly outperform other methods.
-Using something like Mailchimp to send a mass email to everyone. I am concerned about the level of personalization I could include in the email, as well as concern about getting caught in spam.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the methods I've considered or recommendations I haven't thought of?
