Abandoned Cart Recovery Email Templates & Frequency Intervals

If you're running an eCommerce store then you should be quite familiar with the term "Cart Abandonment". If you are, then it also means you'll be quite familiar about the money you're leaving on the table.

So, a few of you might be sending cart recovery emails trying to win back your customers. Great! But, the thing is that cart recovery emails don't work unless they're perfectly crafted and you follow a rock-solid strategy!

So, I've come up with a few cart recovery email templates and the timeline you should follow to send them out!

First Cart Recovery Email - Probably 5-6 hours After Cart Abandonment

Subject: Hey [Name], It seems you've left your [Product] behind!

Hi [Name],

It's just that we noticed you leaving behind your [Product]! Did you forget to complete the checkout process?

That's okay! You can come back at any time to complete the purchase! It's yours and it's waiting there for you!

Regards,

Second Cart Recovery Email - 2 Days After Cart Abandonment

Subject - [Name], Stocks are Getting Low!

Hi [Name],

Hi [Name],

Great News! There's a 30% off now on your [Product]! But remind you, the offer is valid only till stocks last!

We thought a little nudge would motivate you to complete your purchase and thus the exclusive offer!

We hope you're happy now! See you at our store!

Fourth Cart Recovery Email - One Week After Cart Abandonment

Subject - [Name], Few More Days for Your Cart to Expire

Hi [Name],

Your cart has been waiting for you quite sometime now. And there's only a few days left for it to expire. Also, the 30% off goes along with it๐Ÿ˜”!

We hope you grab it before it ends!

Regards,

What's different from each email is,

- The first one is a reminder email

- The second is to create urgency, mentioning the stocks are low creates scarcity among customers

- The third email motivates customers to complete the purchase by offering discounts

- The fourth is one final intimation to let visitors know that their cart is about to expire

Similarly, you can also come up with an email (the fifth one) to let visitors know that their cart has expired and ask for feedback as to why they didn't complete their purchase.

Summary of Email Schedules

- 1st Cart Recovery Email - 5 - 6 hours after abandonment

- 2nd Cart Recovery Email - 2 days after abandonment

- 3rd Cart Recovery Email - 3 days after abandonment

- 4th Cart Recovery Email - 1 week after cart abandonment

Assume you've got 1000 abandoned carts. Recovering 10% of them can help drive a huge amount of revenue for your eCommerce store.

Hope that helps!

Also, let me know your ideas/suggestions in the comments section!

Thanks!
