If you are sending any sort of emails for marketing purposes, you know that open rates are important. But there is one metric that's much more important than open rates: CTR (click through rate).
Its good to have 90% open rates but what if your CTR is 0.02%? That means, your money link is not clicked enough and all your time, money and motivation wasted for that low CTR email campaign!
There are many methods you can use to heal your CTR like personalization (not too much please), great subject line, timing, etc.
But there is one more way that may really boost CTR is sending videos with emails. I do not go through importance and conversion of video in your marketing efforts in general, you can easily google and find out. So it is not a debate whether you should send videos in emails or not, you should and it helps with a better CTR.
But sending videos brings its own challenges:
- Trying to attach emails: size may be a problem, attachments is not always welcome by ISPs and opening attachments is not really preferred if sender is not very well know by email recipient
- Many ISPs do not allow embedding emails to body area, so videos may not show up at all
- Inserting thumbnail images/GIFs and assigning video links to them will open another browser window in user computer so they can watch the video and again that's what really we do not want as a marketer
If you are technical you can try to modify HTML code to embed videos and test all ISPs (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and all others). That's totally ok if you have HTML/CSS knowledge. Even if you don't know how to do it you can always hire someone from Upwork/Fiverr/Freelancer and pay for that service. You can even go one extra mile and learn how to do it. For me, personally, all this time is not worth it.
I would prefer a much easier way to spend my limited and expensive time to insert videos to emails.

There are several tools for that purpose and they do the job perfectly.
- Hippo Video: Perfect tool to use videos with emails. They have tons of additional features like A/B testing, designing video, tracking, integrations with many email marketing service providers and many more. They have free trial and you can test waters yourself
- Playable Video: Another great tool to use videos with emails. They have tons of additional features like A/B testing, designing video, tracking, integrations with many email marketing service providers and many more. They have free trial and you can test waters yourself
- Email Videos Pro: Kind of more basic version of above guys. But definitely has all the features you need for your purpose: it just embeds videos to your emails using a user friendly dashboard. Plus this tool has a great advantage over bigger and older apps above
Please go ahead and check yourself too but here is my take: Hippo Video, Playable Video has serious limitations: they either request extra payments if you want to upload more videos, increase the size of video, increase duration of the videos or per number of views.
I do not know you but I send 50.000 to 300.000 emails per month. And if I want to use Hippo Video, Playable Video, that would easily cost me a fortune, no way I can scale using those tools.
On the other hand Email Videos Pro is very affordable. Yes, it has limited features compared to Hippo Video and Playable Video but, based on hands on use of Email Videos Pro I can confidently say that it has all the features I need to use videos in my email marketing campaigns:
✅ Insert videos to your emails (obviously)
✅ Design video box / player
✅ Insert watermark/logo
✅ Works With ALL Autoresponders
✅ Ready to use video templates (how cool is that)
✅ 50,000 HD Professional Stock Videos
✅ Successfully tested with all major ISP inboxes
Honestly those features are more than enough for me.
This is my honest view of using videos in emails. But I suggest you do your own due diligence, research, and test tools (do not trust those marketing content 100%, don't be lazy, get your hands dirty)
Let me know if you have any questions, I guess I have a decent idea on using videos in emails after all this time researching
All the best.
